If you're looking for fun, entertaining and educational things to do in the DC Metro Area,  you've come to the right place. Our Weekend Guide is packed with a variety of our favorite events and activities that we want to share with you!

1. Big Apple Circus

Where: National Harbor

When:  Through March 24th

There’s a lot of girl power at the Big Apple Circus, starting with ringmaster Stephanie Monseu. Then there’s animal trainer Jenny Vidbel, who works only with rescued horses and dogs, and acrobat Virginia Tuells, who has earned the nickname “strongest mom in the world.” The circus offers shows for audience members with special needs, including a Circus of the Senses for ticket holders who are hearing- or vision-impaired, along with sensory-friendly performances

2. Environmental Film Festival 

Where: All Around Washington, DC 

When:  Saturday March 14-March 24th

This year’s Environmental Film Festival has a particularly urgent call to action -- to save the planet. The lineup includes more than 160 films, many of which speak to the climate crisis and what we can do to fight it. National Geographic is a presenting sponsor of the festival and will host several major speakers and films, including a VR documentary about Bears Ears National Monument..

3.Shamrock n' Roll

Where: Blackfinn Ameripub | Loudoun Station

When: March 16th

Blackfinn Ameripub is hosting a massive outdoor St. Paddy’s party that starts early and runs late. You can spend all day enjoying live music and DJs, beer and cocktails, themed food and drink features, Irish bagpipers and dancers, festive games, and lots of giveaways. The event kicks off with a morning bootcamp by Pulse Inferno to get your blood pumping.

4. Travel and Adventure Show

Where: Washington Convention Center

When: March 16th & 17th

Ready to get the heck out of town? Plan your vacation at this mega-show featuring travel experts sharing pro tips and thousands of international and domestic destinations showing off their sandy beaches and cosmopolitan cities. Don’t miss your chance to meet Samantha Brown, Patricia Schultz, and other travel celebs. You can also renew your passport or apply for global entry while you’re there.

5. DC United Vs. Real Salt Lake

Where: Audi Field | Washington, DC 

When:  March 16th | 8pm

Kick it at a DC United match on Saturday evening as they host Real Salt Lake. It’s recommended to go early — to get to your seats in time for kick off, plus there are usually pre-game pop-ups and activities on the plaza.
